Letter of Understanding Regarding Events Held At Christ Church Cathedral
General Policy
Christ
Church Cathedral is pleased to provide facilities and assistance for
religious and civic events, provided they are consistent with our
Mission, provide for the common good and respect the space as the
Cathedral of The Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky and a church of the
Episcopal Church, USA.
For purposes of this document the
term "Cathedral" will encompass all buildings and grounds within the
Cathedral property – not just the Cathedral Church itself.
Scheduling And Reserving Space For an Event:
-
To schedule space for an event (including the event itself as well
as any rehearsal and/or other auxiliary needs) contact Sam Dorr,
Director of Operations: 502.587.1354.
Specific Policies and Guidelines:
- Sponsoring
groups and those attending events at the Cathedral are asked to respect
the Cathedral as a place of worship and prayer. Since the Cathedral
follows a liturgical calendar, certain liturgical symbols and
decorations may be in place during the course of the church year.
Typically these symbols and decorations are not altered or removed for
a specific event.
- Permission is required for the use of or any rearrangement of seating, furnishings or equipment belonging to the Cathedral.
- Nothing
is to be affixed to walls or other furnishing without permission.
Nothing is to be affixed to the walls within the Cathedral Church
itself.
- Sponsoring
groups are free to use the name of Christ Church Cathedral in promoting
and advertising an event, so long as it is understood that the
Cathedral is not a sponsor of the event unless a specific request has
been made and permission granted for it to act as such.
- Rental
fees are typically not charged for events sponsored by Christ Church
Cathedral, the Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky or any parish or mission
belonging to the Diocese. Events sponsored by other groups may be
subject to payment of a rental fee. All event sponsors will be required
to reimburse the Cathedral for any costs incurred by the Cathedral
related to the event being held.
- The
Cathedral will expect reimbursement for any repair cost necessitated as
the result of damage to finishes and furnishings of the Cathedral by
the sponsoring group.
- Smoking is prohibited inside all Cathedral Buildings.
- Firearms are not to be brought in any area of Christ Church Cathedral.
- Permission
is required for the consumption of alcoholic beverages on Cathedral
property. When permission is granted for the consumption of such
beverages, proof of insurance exempting the Cathedral from any
liability will be required one week prior to the event date.
- Furthermore,
the sponsoring group indemnifies and holds the Cathedral harmless from
and against any loss, damage or expense including reasonable attorney’s
fees, incurred or suffered by or threatened against the Cathedral in
connection with or as a result of any claim for personal injury or
property damage or otherwise brought by or on behalf of any third
party, person, firm or corporation as a result of or in connection with
the event, which claim does not result from the active negligence of
the Cathedral
- Sponsoring
groups are responsible for the acquisition and placement of any special
equipment required for an event. Permission will be required prior to
such equipment being brought on Cathedral Property.
- Set
up, rehearsal, break down and other auxiliary time (in addition to the
event time) will need to be scheduled not less than one week prior to
the event date.
- After
an event, the sponsoring group will be responsible for removal of any
equipment brought to the Cathedral, straightening chairs, picking up
programs or other items left in the event area. The Cathedral will not
assume responsibility for items left behind by the sponsoring group
after an event.
- Reserved parking can not be guaranteed for event participants
- Neither
the sponsoring group or the Cathedral will be held liable for damages
for postponement of cancellation of the event due to traffic accidents,
fire, weather emergencies, labor disputes/strikes or any other
unavoidable cause of act of "Force Majeure"
